Waiting for River of Gods

I ordered the hardcover of this one while at Bakka Phoenix for Cory Doctorow’s book launch (check out Overclocked — I highly recommend it). This was a few weeks ago now and still no word. I’m tempted to see if I can convince Amazon UK to ship it to me. I’m rather eager to read it.

The story mixes elements of traditional cyberpunk, Indian culture, and the author’s own futurist vision. It follows the stories of several distinct characters. Most of the critics agree that the plot is rather weak, but that the book focuses on the characters. Either way, it does end up being rather epic and satisfying towards the end.

Be sure to read the contrasting reviews by Rick Kleffel and Danny Yee.
